While our curiosity spans all scientific disciplines, our heart beats for the blue: we specialize in oceanography and the study of the aquatic microbiome, bridging the gap from land to sea.
We create solutions to quantify and understand the microbiome within holistic systems. By combining rigorous research, development, and innovation, we strive to share knowledge and foster education, making microbiome science actionable and accessible.
Born from the Plankton Planet initiative, SeaLabX was founded to design and deploy innovative solutions for scientific research. The project emerged from the energy of a community of engaged makers — including Noan Le Bescot (today SeaLabX), David Le Guen & Thibault Pollina (today FairScope).
While some of the very first prototypes were developed within this collaborative framework, the creation of SeaLabX by Noan Le Bescot marked a pivotal step: structuring and professionalizing the development and production of these tools. This evolution ensures that our low-cost, accessible instruments are reliable enough to empower users worldwide to contribute to science, staying true to our mission of democratizing exploration.
